ABOUT AMY & EYE FOR EDITING

I've always enjoyed editing, be it editing my own creations in university or for my employers, leaders, and peers. I have always believed editing as a creative, opportunistic, and rewarding process for both writer and reader, so naturally, I leaned into it as a second career and began Eye for Editing in 2019.

In 2021, I completed the Editing Certificate Program through Simon Fraser University with accolades and recognition. I also graduated from Brock University in 2003 with an Honours Bachelor of Tourism Studies Planning & Development and had one of my independent research papers published in the Travel & Tourism Research Association 2002 Proceedings. 

Over the course of my 25-year administrative career, I was fortunate to work on a variety of written works and was often the go-to for review, revisions, and advice because of my personable approach, my "eye" for this stuff, and a desire to understand. As a freelance editor, I continue to build strong relationships with my clients who have come to rely on my expertise. I aspire for excellence in myself and how I help others with their communications, and as such, have my sights set high on achieving professional certification through Editors Canada—the gold standard of editing.

Business communications and formal writing are what interest me most. Building strong relationships with those I work with is engrained in my work ethic and evident in my approach to editing. I take the time to understand you and your organization so I can offer meaningful feedback that maintains your voice and brand, ensures your project performs as intended, and resonates with your readers.
